The elevator at Brookwood Library is currently closed for the safety of patrons and staff, while mechanical issues are addressed.
With the elevator in need of repairs, patrons may see some delays for materials to be available, and access to the second floor will be limited to the stairs.
“We are sorry for the inconvenience that this causes to all patrons who are impacted, and we appreciate everyone’s understanding that this is something we are working to address,” said Library Director Hillary Ostlund. “Our hope is to have this problem fixed as soon as possible; however, we are expecting delays to our materials distribution for several weeks, at a minimum.”City of Hillsboro staff are currently working to get the necessary parts to address the issues and return the elevator into proper and safe working conditions as soon as possible.
Accessibility adjustments
Staff have made several accessibility adjustments to serve all patrons, including:
- Some technology has been relocated to the first floor for easier access
- Staff will assist patrons – who cannot access the second floor – in retrieving materials
- Some programs and public meetings have been relocated to the first floor, offered virtually, or added a virtual option along with an in-person option
