What difference could you make with an arts and culture grant from the City of Hillsboro?

Applications for three distinct grant opportunities for artists, groups, and organizations that deliver arts and culture programming in Hillsboro will be available starting January 3 with a deadline of 5 pm on February 27.

Performance Grants

Performance grants offer a chance to headline a show at the Walters Cultural Arts Center. These grants include ticketing, limited marketing support, and technical assistance. Proceeds benefit performers and Hillsboro arts and culture nonprofit organizations.

Recent performance grant recipients include Hillsboro Symphony Orchestra, Dia Do Choro, and Neftali Rivera & Grupo Borikuas.Performance grants offer support and growth opportunities for the local performing arts community.

Project Grants

Project grants of up to $3,000 can be used to support other performances and concerts happening in Hillsboro, along with exhibitions, screenings, readings, workshops, classes, festivals, or cultural celebrations. Individuals or groups without 501(c)3 or 501(c)4 status can apply for up to $1,500.

Some recent project grants were awarded to fund the creation of jazz music inspired by public artwork around Hillsboro, a free afterschool art literacy and enrichment program, and master classes in classical Indian dance.

Project grants aim to help foster a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community while providing access to arts and cultural experiences for the underserved.

Core Support Grants

Core Support grants of up to $10,000 help fund essential operations at small and mid-sized arts and culture 501(c)3 nonprofits based in Hillsboro.

Last year five Core Support grants were awarded to local organizations including HART Theatre, STAGES Performing Arts Youth Academy, and Tualatin Valley Artists operating as Influence Music Hall among others.

These grants are intended to support the core mission of Hillsboro arts and cultural organizations with an annual operating budget of less than $500,000.
