Oregon Education Association recently issued the following announcement.

When: Wednesday, April 6, 2022 · 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

FACILITATOR: Janette Ross

Traumatic experiences in students’ lives can overwhelm their capacity to cope and ultimately, their capacity to learn, succeed, and thrive. School staff are an integral community support system that have a sizable role to play in reversing the negative impacts of adverse childhood experiences.

Join other Education Support Professionals from around the state to watch a set of documentaries that help us better understand trauma, how it impacts our bodies and brains, and what we can do as educators. Film clubs include watching the film and engaging in discussion led by a fellow OEA ESP member, Janette Ross of Lebanon.

Register for one film or all three! Participants will receive a link to view the film on their own and then will join the scheduled live discussions. Participants can earn PDUs for their participation. This three-week session is for ESP/Classified Staff only. If you are a licensed/certified educator or a community college faculty member, please know that we will be hosting additional film clubs using these same three films that will be open to ALL members.

Dates and Times:

“Resilience” – Monday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m.

“Paper Tigers” – Monday, March 14 at 6 p.m.

“Broken Places” – Wednesday, April 6 at 6 p.m.
