The Washington County Sheriff’s Office announced on May 12 that it will host the 19th Annual Washington County K9 Trials in partnership with the Sheriff’s Office Foundation. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, at Hillsboro Stadium, located at 4450 NE Century Blvd in Hillsboro.
The K9 Trials provide an opportunity for the public to observe law enforcement dogs and their handlers compete in a series of events designed to demonstrate their skills and training. The competition will include area search, agility course, suspect apprehension, fastest dog, and handler protection. Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded based on fastest times in each category. An overall winner will be selected using a point system across all events.
In addition to the competitions, attendees can participate in community and vendor fairs beginning at 10 a.m., with the main K9 competition starting at 11 a.m. Food and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the day. Organizers encourage families and friends of all ages to attend but ask that pets remain at home; service animals are welcome.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office contributes to community well-being through safety education and public support programs; it utilizes its headquarters and county jail facility to support regional operations as part of Washington County government; serves over 600,000 residents across the county; and focuses on protecting and serving through integrity, professionalism, and compassion—all according to the official website.
