The Washington County Sheriff’s Office announced on April 14 that deputies and volunteer reserve deputies conducted an alcohol compliance mission on April 11, targeting local retailers to identify those selling alcohol to minors. During the operation, 18-20-year-old Search and Rescue cadets attempted to purchase alcohol at 42 different locations using their real Oregon Driver License and truthful answers about their age.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, most retailers refused the sale in accordance with Oregon liquor laws. However, five businesses—Cedar Mill Liquor Store, Green Light Food Mart, Safeway on Cornell Road, The Booze Barn, and Target on Beaverton Hillsdale Highway—sold alcohol to a minor cadet. Deputies issued citations for furnishing alcohol to a minor at each of these locations.
