Census Bureau: 8.6% of people in Washington County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 596,969 citizens living in Washington County in 2021, 91.4% said they were only one race, while 8.6% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Washington County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 71.5% or 426,654 individuals. Following them, Asian accounted for 10.8% and totaled 64,517 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Washington County is 0.9% higher than the state average, which stands at 7.7%.
