In July, Hillsboro is getting a new Downtown destination — Main Street Commons — a multilevel food and beverage collective with a roof top bar and European-style plaza.
The previously vacant building on the corner of 2nd Avenue and Main Street has been transformed into a 24,000-square-foot food hub, home to regional staples like Sizzle Pie and Grand Central Baking.
Each of the restaurants will have indoor seating as well as dedicated outdoor space for the summer months.
Taking over the 5,000-square-foot all-season roof top deck later this fall is Backwoods Brewing Company who recently announced its plans to become the site’s anchor brewery.
Grand Opening Details
- Grand Central Bakery’s official ribbon cutting will be held at 9 a.m. July 8th, during the Saturday Farmers Market.
- Sizzle Pie’s ribbon cutting will be held at 5:30p.m. July 18th, during the Tuesday Night Market.
- Main Street Commons Murals opening reception will be held at 5 p.m. August 1st, during the Hillsboro Art Walk.
Main Street Commons Joins a Robust Mix of New and Established Downtown Businesses
New commercial developments – like Main Street Commons – are drawing more interest and activity to Downtown than ever before. Recent additions to Downtown Hillsboro include:
- A thriving urban wine scene featuring DaNu Wines, Résolu Cellars and Skywater Fine Wines.
- Hillsboro's largest food cart pod – Hillsboro Downtown Station – features both outdoor and indoor seating, a beer garden and unique food offerings at their 3rd and Baseline location.
- Favi’s Fabulous Cakes where local entrepreneur Fabiola Medina crafts custom cakes at her newly remodeled shop on Main St.
- Blue Ox Axe Throwing’s brand-new entertainment venue which is bringing its unique style of bar and adventure to the community (coming soon).
In addition to supporting entrepreneurs, and small businesses, the City's Public Art Program has also invested in artist-designed mural panels for the new space.
Debuting in August, the three new murals will turn the building's façade into a dynamic outdoor ‘gallery’ – easily enjoyed by patrons and tourists visiting Downtown.
The panels will be on a 5-year rotation and be replaced by work from new artists. The public art project is spearheaded by Tualatin Valley Creates (TVC), and funded by the developers, City of Hillsboro, and private foundations.
