2023 Hillsboro Mural Artist Roster Now Available

Murals

Hillsboro's Public Art Program has released its 2023 Mural Artist Roster, a list of qualified local and regional artists who want to engage in mural projects.

A community resource for anyone interested in developing a mural project in Hillsboro and the surrounding area, the City of Hillsboro's roster features contact information and a bio of each selected artist, accompanying a portfolio of their recent mural work.

Murals bring creativity, color, and context to city streets. Often, they celebrate the history of a city, its people, or the specific location of the wall itself.

Hillsboro's Mural Program began in 2014 when the City created an exemption for murals to be reviewed and approved by the Public Art Program, separately from the standard application process through City Sign Code.

Any property owner, business owner, community member, or organization can develop a mural on private property by following the guidelines and application process.

“We are excited to introduce this new tool for connecting artists with mural projects throughout the city. We hope the Mural Artist Roster will encourage more investment in murals to attract artists and visitors, celebrate what makes Hillsboro unique, and enhance our everyday lives here in our community.” - Karl LeClair, Public Art Supervisor

The 2023 Mural Artist Roster is an easy-to-use tool for connecting community members with experienced mural artists. Artists included in the roster were selected by a community-based committee through a Call-to-Artist process. These artists were selected based on demonstrated skills, experience, and their desire to work in mural projects.

The Public Art Program plans to update the roster annually to ensure new artists can be included and existing artists can update their information and portfolio to reflect their current practice.
