Today Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-1) and Oregon Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley announced a $2 million U.S. Department of Transportation grant award to the City of Beaverton for the Beaverton Downtown Loop project.
The Beaverton Downtown Loop is a mobility and modernization project that will significantly improve bike and pedestrian safety along a dangerous downtown corridor. This project will also strengthen local economic development and reconnect lower-income residents to community assets and civic services. The grant will support the design and construction of a demonstration project in the downtown area.
“On a recent tour of the Beaverton Downtown Loop, I saw firsthand the challenges that people experience when walking, biking, or using transit in Beaverton’s downtown area,” said Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici. “I’m glad to help secure federal funding to support this project, which will increase access, mobility, and safety for the Beaverton community and build a more equitable, sustainable transportation corridor.”

The Beaverton Downtown Loop is one of Congresswoman Bonamici’s 15 priority Community Funding Projects that she submitted for the 2023 fiscal year. It was included in an appropriations bill that recently passed the House and now awaits consideration in the Senate.
