Portland State University announced on Mar. 30 that the Vikings football team will begin its spring practice on April 7, marking the start of Chris Fisk’s tenure as head coach.

The new season brings changes for the program, with Fisk and his entire coaching staff entering their first year in these roles. The team expects just over 70 players to participate in spring practices, including about 25 newcomers. An additional group of approximately 25 freshmen is scheduled to join when fall practice starts in late July.

Spring practices are set to take place every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday over a five-week period at Stott Community Field. Most sessions are planned for the morning hours. Notably, a scrimmage will be held at Kiggins Bowl in Vancouver on May 2, followed by the annual Spring Game at Hillsboro Stadium on May 8 at 6 p.m.

Fisk was hired as head coach last December and has assembled a new coaching staff alongside him this year.

The upcoming practices and events provide an opportunity for both returning players and newcomers to prepare for the upcoming season under new leadership.
