OSAAtoday released its statewide Baseball Coaches Polls for all classifications on April 13. The polls reflect the opinions of coaches who contributed their expertise and time to rank high school baseball teams across Oregon.
The polls are published every other Monday during the spring season to generate interest and discussion among fans, players, and schools. However, OSAAtoday notes that these rankings do not affect the Oregon School Activities Association’s (OSAA) RPI or Colley ratings, which determine official playoff seedings.
In the Class 6A poll, Clackamas leads with nine first-place votes and an 8-2 record. Jesuit follows in second place with two first-place votes and a record of 6-3. Tualatin is third with one first-place vote at 9-2. Other top teams include Willamette, Central Catholic, South Salem, West Linn, Grant, Lincoln, Beaverton (which shares tenth place), and Newberg.
Hood River Valley tops the Class 5A rankings after receiving five first-place votes. Crater holds second place with three first-place votes. In Class 4A, Henley is ranked number one with six first-place votes while Scappoose is second.
Taft dominates the Class 3A poll with fourteen first-place votes and a perfect record of twelve wins without a loss. Kennedy leads in Class 2A/1A after securing thirteen first-place votes out of a possible total.
The publication encourages more varsity head baseball coaches to participate as voters in future polls for better representation in Classes 5A and 4A by contacting them via email.
These biweekly polls aim to foster engagement within Oregon’s high school baseball community but have no bearing on postseason qualifications or seeding.
