The Washington County Sheriff’s Office announced on Mar. 30 that detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred during a large party on a rural property in the 15200 block of SW Holly Hill Road in unincorporated Hillsboro late Saturday night. Deputies responded to reports of between 100 and 200 juveniles gathering and consuming alcohol, with additional calls indicating some attendees were armed.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about underage gatherings and gun violence in the area. The sheriff’s office serves as the primary law enforcement agency for Washington County, providing patrol, criminal investigations, and jail operations for more than 600,000 residents. It also engages in community outreach and partners with local organizations to improve safety and education, according to the official website.

As deputies arrived at the scene just before midnight, shots were fired. Two people were found with non-life-threatening injuries and transported by ambulance. Due to the challenging terrain and size of the crowd, deputies called for assistance from several partner agencies including Beaverton Police Department, Cornelius Police Department, Forest Grove Police Department, Hillsboro Police Department, Sherwood Police Department, Tigard Police Department, Oregon State Police and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

An explosives detection K9 from federal authorities located a pistol near the scene. Investigators identified two teenagers—a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy—who were detained by initial responders as being involved in the shooting.

The sheriff’s office utilizes its headquarters and county jail facility to support regional operations as part of Washington County government according to its official website. It contributes to community well-being through safety education programs while focusing on integrity, professionalism and compassion.

Massey became the first woman to serve as sheriff of Washington County Sheriff’s Office according to information provided by their official website. Detectives believe there may be other individuals who left before law enforcement arrived; anyone with information is asked to contact investigators referencing case number 50-26-4267.
