The Washington County Sheriff’s Office announced on March 15 that deputies are seeking the public’s help to identify a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian in Bethany.

According to the sheriff’s office, the incident occurred at 1:52 p.m. in the 16900 block of NW Shadow Hills Lane. Multiple people called 911 to report that a dark SUV struck a pedestrian and then left the scene. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital with a broken leg.

Deputies searched for the vehicle but were unable to locate it. The Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation into the incident. Witnesses said the driver had been speeding through the neighborhood before hitting the pedestrian. Surveillance cameras and witness photos captured images of the SUV immediately after the crash.

Investigators have identified the suspect vehicle as a black Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, likely from model years 2021 or 2022. Videos show it traveling at high speeds through residential streets prior to and following the collision.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about this vehicle or its driver at the time of the crash to call non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111 and reference case number 50-26-3587.

Authorities say community assistance could be crucial in identifying those responsible for such incidents.
