Several high school girls basketball teams secured spots in the state tournaments following the round-of-16 playoff games held on March 7.

The results determine which teams will compete in the eight-team state tournaments for Oregon’s 6A, 5A, and 4A classifications. The matchups featured record-breaking performances and dominant wins across all divisions.

In Class 6A, Nelson defeated Southridge 60-55 despite a record-setting effort from Sara Mangan, who finished her career with a new all-classification mark of 362 three-pointers. Top-ranked Tualatin continued its unbeaten run against Oregon opponents by defeating Lake Oswego 64-19. Other notable victories included West Linn over Century, Benson extending its winning streak to twenty games by beating Beaverton, and South Medford notching its thirteenth consecutive win by at least thirty-five points against Mountainside. Sherwood advanced past Sheldon with a balanced team effort, while Oregon City and West Salem also moved forward with road wins.

In Class 5A action, West Albany’s Payton Starwalt set a new single-season state record for made three-pointers with her sixth of the game during a win over Bend. Redmond extended its winning streak to twenty-four games after scoring a season-high in points against North Eugene. Springfield and South Albany both posted decisive victories to reach the next stage. Defending champion Crater overwhelmed Canby with defensive pressure, while Wilsonville extended its own winning streak to twenty games under head coach Tyler VanAcker. Crook County and Silverton also earned their places in the tournament bracket.

Class 4A saw defending champion Stayton hold Klamath Union to just sixteen points in a lopsided victory. Baker advanced after defeating The Dalles as it seeks to improve on last year’s semifinal appearance. Seaside limited Pendleton to four field goals in their matchup, while Marist Catholic relied on Ashley Powell’s strong performance to move past Madras. Henley continued its run of large-margin wins over Scappoose; St. Helens came from behind in the fourth quarter to beat North Bend; Cascade shot efficiently from the field against La Grande; and Philomath handled Mollala comfortably.

With these results, each classification now has its final eight teams set for their respective state tournaments.
